Coronation
Street is the world's longest running soap, and it's still running !
However, in all that time (it started in 1960), very few novels have
been published. At least three paperback novels were published by Mayflower
Books in the 70s, some of which were re-published in hardback format
by White Lion Books in 1977. At least two further novels were published
by Granada Books, set during the second world war when many of the older
characters were youngsters.
In 2003 a new novel was published by Granada titled 'The Epic Novel' by Katherine Hardy, a novelisation of the first forty years of the soap. This book was re-published in 2004 with the new title of 'The Complete Saga' and re-printed in 2008 with a new cover. Many thanks to Paul (Geordie Boy) for bringing these to my attention. To my knowledge, that is all that was published by way of original books or novelisations of this soap. Many reference books were published, but these galleries do not include those. |
